Any chances of allowing you to select which programs you want it to check, and which you want it not to? I know you can get it to stop notifying you, but it still flags up these programs as out of date. For example, I do not want to buy the latest version of Adobe Photoshop Elements, but I cannot stop it flagging it up as out of date.
It is bad news when the version of the software updater itself is not updated... Currently the latest build is 1.0.285 and this page still reports 1.0.277...
Can't you just go to your start menu, find where the software informer folder is, and in that you should see 'Uninstall Software Informer"? Otherwise, go to Control Panel / Add Remove Programs and you should see it in there. Select it and hit the 'remove' button.
