It is not always enough to know, that a particular programme, installed on your PC, does work and so far has been absolutely fail-safe. Even though you may use your software only for a defined set of functions, it may once happen that some specific data or a subtle change in the overall configuration will bring up a conflict, which you have been yet unaware of. The result - a software failure - is distressing, but it can be prevented.

Software Informer is a programme that has been specially designed for those users who care to keep their applications functional and ready for any task that might arise. Its primary aim is to give you the up-to-date information about the software you actually use. For that purpose, this programme will make a list of applications installed on your computer, and later on will check their versions for obsoleteness by occasionally connecting to software.informer.com, the expanding server with a huge and constantly updated list of present applications. Whenever a more recent version of any programme becomes available, Software Informer will notify you and offer a link for downloading the update.

But this programme goes even further. It will provide you a centralised interface for gathering relevant information on all the applications that might interest you. Allowing you to keep track of comments and questions on corresponding software, and being nevertheless incredibly easy-to-use, Software Informer makes the process of obtaining the desired information and tools wholly free from tiresome search and disappointment - and thus, makes it pleasantly usual.

Any chances of allowing you to select which programs you want it to check, and which you want it not to? I know you can get it to
stop notifying you, but it still flags up these programs as out of date. For example, I do not want to buy the latest version of
Adobe Photoshop Elements, but I cannot stop it flagging it up as out of date.

It is bad news when the version of the software updater itself is not updated... Currently the latest build is 1.0.285 and this
page still reports 1.0.277...

This is a great programme from a great team. I'd like to be able to define other locations where SI can check my versions.

For example: Portable Applications, or non-install applications I generally don't put on C:, and SI does not pick them up.

Can't you just go to your start menu, find where the software informer folder is, and in that you should see 'Uninstall Software
Informer"?
Otherwise, go to Control Panel / Add Remove Programs and you should see it in there. Select it and hit the 'remove' button.
